Hagrid the Protector: "I'll Carry You Home"
This
scene is from Harry’s final year at Hogwarts, after he sacrificed himself to
spare the lives of others. The seemingly lifeless Harry was then carried
through the school gates for the last time by Hagrid.
The scene
depicts what was going through Hagrid’s mind as he walked towards what was left
of Hogwarts. As he stared blankly to the ruins ahead of him, all Hagrid could
think of was how much of a son Harry was to him. And all of a sudden, countless
memories flashed before his eyes:
The night
he delivered Baby Harry to the Dursleys;
How
Harry’s eyes lit up when he saw the birthday cake Hagrid made for him;
And the
night he was ambushed by the Death Eaters & Voldemort as he escorted Harry
from Privet Drive to the Burrow.
Hagrid
whispered, “I’ll carry you home”, which is what Hogwarts was to Harry. A place where Harry felt he truly belonged.
This
scene was so poetic as Hagrid had always been Harry's protector. Hence, the
scene of him carrying Harry "home" for the last time was so fitting.
