Micro 6559: Deep Sea Bounty
Despite 6559 Deep Sea Bounty wasn't the biggest Divers set, it was a brick built location original enough to become an icon of its theme, and one of the most distinctive sets of the first LEGO catalog I flicked through.
Rather than a direct miniaturization of the set, this microscale was inspired by the immersive atmosphere of the well photographed scenes/dioramas displayed in said catalogs. Those pictures showcased the minifigures in action for decades, until they were no longer used by the end of the 2000s. This entry is my personal homage to those forgotten visuals that I found so engaging as a kid.
While I am unable to choose only one favourite LEGO set, there is a selection of them I would pick, mostly from the 90s-2000s era. Contextual factors had lead to an unfairly demonization of the designs released during that segment of time. Those products introduced some great concepts, and I am determined to use contest entries like these to provide them the recognition they deserve.
