Octan Inspired a Hobby!

I was a dragon knights and exploriens kid. In adult life, the Octan sets inspired an ongoing hobby of building micro vehicles, centred around their ability to fill up the tank! I picked up some of the printed Octan tiles and built this micro gas station.

Some features I enjoyed figuring out:
  • The shop has a sky light and interior detailing with shelves, a fridge, register and a small office.
  • An upside-down lantern brick next to the pumps was perfect for a customer bin (the stud on the front) and the open space at the top would be where the water is for washing car windows.
  • Next to the building is a larger bin with a black stud in it to simulate a rubbish bag.
  • The blue tap at the front is meant to be air for the tyres.
  • The reddish-brown car has one of those ‘dots’ on the back to suggest a spare tyre, and a family that probably has a dog (the tile has a printed bone).

One day I’d like to incorporate this, or a version of this into a mini town.

I hope you like it!
