Microscale Adventurer's — The Temple of Anubis 5988
My favorite set of all time is The Temple of Anubis 5988! My 9 year old imagination was unlocked by this "Indiana Jones" inspired adventure set, which released in 1998. It was as if a movie had come to life through Lego bricks, providing endless adventures and mysteries. It features the G.O.A.T. of all Lego heroes, Johnny Thunder, with his skilled team of adventurers, a couple of antagonists, and a threat from beyond the grave. It was a world full of lost treasures to discover and deadly traps to avoid. My goal was to capture the spirit of the original set in microscale, with some interesting techniques, while preserving a couple of play features, e.g. a functioning trapdoor and falling axe. Though the color pallet of this set is minimal, the printed hieroglyphics added a lot of wonder and color—I have adapted those designs as stickers to give it that extra "wow" factor. Now adults, like myself, can re-discover those lost adventures with this microscale, paper weight, display. Enjoy!
