City of Atlantis (7985)
What is it?
This entry is a microscale of the 7985 City of Atlantis 2011 set from the LEGO® Atlantis theme. It features a miniature of the main building: the ruins of the front of a temple, some rocks on the sides, more ruins in front of the temple, and the temple entryway at the very front. Side builds include a miniature red submarine and giant lobster-like creature (which is simply represented by a black lobster piece).
Why did you build it?
I like Greek architecture. The City of Atlantis set was one of the first major sets which LEGO released which featured a large Greek-style building. Ever since it was featured in the 2011 catalog, I appreciated its design and size. I was far from the only one; quite a few other people over the years have gone so far as to purchase multiple of these sets, so that they may construct a fuller Greek temple for themselves. My microscale thus honors the classical beauty of the 7985 set, and the popularity of the Atlantis theme.
