Black Seas Barracuda: 1989
Every time I think about classic LEGO sets, my mind immediately goes to the 1989 Black Seas Barracuda, Pirates set. I’ve always wanted this set, and this contest was a great opportunity to fulfill that dream to some extent. At 20 studs long, and 14 studs tall, my ship is actually exactly to the scale of the little trophy figures, and even despite those special limitations, I still feel as if I was able to pack in almost every detail. Some of my favourites are the steering wheel, doors at the back of the ship, windows, cranes, and many more. I’ve tried to stay away from typically “illegal” techniques, but for the sails and small row boat, I couldn’t help but use minifig hands to stick elements together in opposite directions. I’ve been working very hard on this over the past week or so, and while I’ve seen quite a few other Barracudas and I’m submitting my entry relatively lately, I still hope that my attention to detail will help to make mine stick out. Thanks for considering my entry.
