Life on Mars: T-3 Trike
I wanted to be sure to pay my respects to this 2001 classic, as it was the very first true LEGO set I personally owned. Up until that point I had always received Duplo, 4+ sets, or assorted brick buckets. The T-3 Trike is, in all cases, the perfect introductory set, stemming from its varied building style. It contained everything from simple technic mechanisms involving rubber bands for suspension, to system brick builds that allowed for modular compatibility across the theme.
The T-3 Trike was from Life on Mars, a theme following the Classic Space era, but retained the idea of peaceful exploration rather than a conflict in a box. The 3-wheel design had working suspension, allowing it to serve as an all-terrain vehicle, perfect for exploring the Martian surface. In 2007, the set spawned a spiritual successor in Mars Mission with the MT-31 Trike, a modified design for a different purpose.
My Homage Build:
- Build Part Count: 78 pieces
- Features: adjustable suspension; modular design
