The Red Beard Runner Sails Again

The LEGO set that started it all! 6289: Red Beard Runner was the very first LEGO set that my family received, to the point of becoming a staple of my love for the brick. The set was originally released back in 1996 but proved to be so popular that LEGO chose to rerelease it in 2001. The Red Beard Runner may not be as note-worthy as the Black Seas Barracuda (originally released in 1989 and again in 2002), but it has more meaning to me than any other pirates set ever made.

The Red Beard Runner captivated my senses of unlimited creativity and imagination, and even drove me to develop a remastered version in the likeness of 21322: Pirates of Barracuda Bay. This faithful representation is simply the evolution into micro-scale (or baby-scale) to pay my respect to the original set. Many pirate ships have come and gone, but there will never be another Red Beard Runner.
