Scene: Théoden King Stands Alone

In this physical build, a set of motorized horses charge the line of Uruk-Hais waiting for them.

 

Ever since watching the Lord of the Rings for the first time, I was captivated by the battle at Helm’s Deep. Outnumbered and desperate, Théoden and the defenders of Helm’s Deep charge into the masses of Uruk-Hai. Gandalf, with his impeccable timing and the help of Éomer and the Rohirrim, charges to the rescue of Théoden.

 

To activate the mechanism, pull on the grey lever on the side of the build. This then activates a Power Functions battery box connected to a Power Functions motor. Some ten gears start spinning inside the build, and the gears work as pistons: the rotation simply moves a Technic rod up and down. This helps to create an effect where it looks like the horses are riding down the hill, just like in the movies.
