Scene: Samwise the Brave
Here is one of my favorite scenes from the movies; the Nazgûl attack at the end of The Two Towers. Without Samwise Gamgee, Frodo wouldn’t have gotten far, and in this scene our Sam is showing everything he’s made of. With Frodo facing the Black Rider, and Faramir and his men cowering at the sight of the fell beast, only Samwise had the courage to save his friend, their mission, and all of Middle-earth.
There’s a recreation of Frodo almost revealing the ring to the Nazgûl while Sam is running bravely up the stairs, but also the moment after the two hobbits tumble down and Frodo draws Sting on his friend. There’s Gollum cowering behind Faramir, and of course the ruins and rubble of Gondor’s former capital, Osgiliath.
The model has about 1600 pieces, including two more Gondorian soldiers. I've been wanting to make a fell beast ever since I discovered those 2x2 tube bricks, and imagining Osgiliath beyond the frames of the shot was quite the fun and rewarding challenge.
