Scene: Saved by the Flood of Bruinen
When Frodo barely escapes from the nine Ringwraiths, he confronts them at the ford of the Bruinen river. As the Riders cross the water, a raging flood in the form of horses is summoned by Elrond and Gandalf that sweeps them away, saving Frodo.
My model illustrates the way the flood takes care of the Nazgûl, some already under water, some still trying to escape, while Frodo watches from the river bank on top of Asfaloth, Glorfindel's horse. The model features the horse heads of the flood, and added scenery with mountains, paths, trees and lush vegetation.
Retaining the impression of motion was a crucial part for me, so I also made a custom horse design with rotating limbs that could be displayed in such ways.
I choose to recreate this scene because every visual adaptation of it I've seen so far is stunning and shows the raw power of nature and magic perfectly. I really believe that a real set based on this scene would be an amazing display piece.
