Scene: The Fall of Númenor
This a model of the Downfall of Númenor, one of the most important events of the Second Age. King Ar-Pharazôn the Golden had made war against Sauron, and after easily conquering him, brought him back to Númenor as a prisoner in his pride and conceit. It was only a matter of time before Sauron was deceiving the king.
In Sauron's hatred for Men he led Númenor to its doom by persuading them that if they conquered Aman they would live forever. Though the Valar had told the Númenoreans that living in the Undying Lands did not confer immortality, Sauron persuaded Ar-Pharazôn and almost all of his people that the Valar had deceived them not only about Valinor but also about the very existence of the One, Eru Illúvatar. Soon the Númenoreans were worshiping Morgoth instead of Eru.
At last Ar-Pharazôn launched an attack on Aman, leading to the Valar laying down their authority and Eru Illúvatar destroying Númenor. Only Elendil and his company were spared, going in nine ships to Middle Earth.
