Scene: The Grey Havens

"Here at last, on the shores of the sea, comes the end of our Fellowship. I will not say do not weep for not all tears are an evil." ~Gandalf

Perhaps the most bittersweet moment in the journey comes at the very end. Our heroes have won, but Frodo has been changed by the experience. He muses, "How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold."
Bilbo, Merry, Pippin, Sam, Frodo, and Gandalf gather at the docks of the Grey Havens where it is revealed that Frodo is leaving for the west as well. He embraces his friends one last time and entrusts the book he and Bilbo have been writing to Sam, for whom the last few blank pages are waiting. Light spills across the glass-like waters as they say their farewells.

Don't say / We have come now to the end / White shores are calling / You and I will meet again.
