Location: Erebor/the Lonely Mountain
This once great kingdom is possibly the most iconic location from the prequel adventure, The Hobbit. Known as one of the greatest Dwarven strongholds in the Early Second Age, our heroes risk everything to reclaim their home. From its emerald green halls to the massive hoard of gold enough to satisfy a dragon, Erebor is breathtaking.
I decided to recreate this majestic mountain with the idea of being able to showcase the interior and front gates without compromising either. Additionally, I wanted to capture the size and shape of the Lonely Mountain itself. The interior includes the Throne of Erebor as well as the famed gold hoard, with a stained glass background and pillared pathways it comes together as the perfect representation of Erebor. The front gates are on a smaller scale to express the large scale of the mountain and utilize smaller LEGO pieces to capture its look in The Hobbit movie. I spared no expense in bringing this once mighty kingdom to life in the form of LEGO.
