Amani Explorer

The Amani Explorer is the Afrofuturism planetary explorer. In this future, humanity peacefully explores other planets to check for life and the possibility of its habitation. This vehicle is equipped with all sorts of futuristic sensors, cameras and tools all throughout the craft. Most gizmos and legs are movable. The entire bottom section swivels! This allows for several craft modes: flight, exploration, upright, and watercraft.

 

I had an amazingly wonderful time creating this, especially trying to make many parts movable and cramming as much greebling as I could. But, I also limited myself to pieces found in the Star Wars Imperial Probe Droid 75306 to represent the essence of turning something evil into something for the good of all –which I believe, is intrinsic to Afrofuturism.

 

Ekow’s Adventures of the AIA absolutely inspired me. I just want to grab that spaceship and fly it around the room. Hopefully, the Amani Explorer is able to capture that same fun/playtime energy as well.
