AfricAquaponics Mini-Farm in Space

This botanist is bringing the flavours of the African continent to the lunar settlement. In the top left, she grows saffron and a dwarf variety of amaranth to reduce resource use. Down below, there are carrots, turnips + beets. In the aquaponics area, African eggplant, jute mallow, stinging nettle, African black nightshade, rooibos + African cabbage are starting to grow. Each plant rotates so its roots spend some time in the water below, where tilapia and shrimp live.

Keeping African cuisines alive on the moon brings people comfort while they taste a bit of home. What will she make when it's time to harvest?

Some of the building techniques used:
  • Technic plates used in between the two layers of plants on the left, so the stems of the root vegetables could go through the holes of the plates.
  • Modified bricks were used in the circular module so that plant parts could be stuck into and on top of the studs.
  • Minifig posing stands were used in the amaranth and the shrimp to add some angles.
