iQukwane Martian Lander
The concept of Afrofuturism, to me, means massive leaps in technology and science of what would be expected in the future. This is seen with our two astronauts landing on the surface of foreign planets in their new lander. Along with this lander, the inclusion of a small greenhouse unit designed to grow agriculture on foreign planets is to show the advancement in botany in the future.
I decided to make this creation an interplanetary spacecraft with partial inspiration from retro sci-fi comic books, drawings, and paintings from the 1960s. But perhaps the bigger source of inspiration for the dome design of the spacecraft and agricultural unit comes from the traditional iQukwane architecture, also known as the Zulu beehive hut style, from South Africa. This merge between classic sci-fi and real life African architecture was essentially the basis for this whole project and shows the African architecture being used in the far future on an interplanetary scale.
