Rumble in the Jungle
On October 30, 1974, in Kinshasa, Zaire, world heavyweight champion George Foreman faced off against challenger and former world heavyweight champion Muhammed Ali, in what would become one of the most famous boxing matches of all time.
Going into the fight, Foreman, known for his raw strength, was favored to win over Ali, who was known for his speed and technical skill.
In the second round of the fight, Ali was forced to change his strategy after aggressively attacking Foreman failed to disorient him, adopting a tactic he would later dub the "rope-a-dope"; By leaning against the ropes and covering up, he let Foreman expend energy by throwing punches at his arms and body without gaining any points.
This, combined with repeatedly taunting Foreman, was an incredibly effective strategy.
In the eighth round of the fight, Ali defeated Foreman by a knockout, with referee Zack Clayton calling the fight, and regained the title of world heavy weight champion.
