Figure Skater

Figure skating is a competitive sport, where skaters wear special boots with blades to glide on ice and perform different jumps, spins and prescribed patterns, choreographed with lovely music.  Each routine may last for only a few minutes, but it takes years to master.

This is also the sport where I first met my wife many years ago.   Now the genes have passed on to our daughter.

This Figure Skater & its snowflake base measured 13in tall and 10in wide, with about 800 pieces.  This scale allows me to add details on her hair, skates and a sparkling dress.  It is fully articulated and able to mimic some iconic poses, including spiral, lay back spin, Axel jump and forward drag.   

A big challenge of this physical creation is gravity.  Body proportion and joints have been modified many times to keep her balance while standing on one leg.   A small hinge from the back of her waist can be attached to her dress to assist bending backwards for some of the poses.
