The Maraurder's Party

This is the Gryffindor Common room, where The Marauders and Lily, late at night, are still celebrating the birthday of a young new teacher. James and Sirius have used magic to change the lion over the fireplace into a big banner.

I could write so much about what is happening in this scene, and that's exactly what I love so much about Lego's in general. It speaks to the imagination. It can create that specific magical feeling from the books/movies and it's there! To interact with! The figures really finish that off, telling a story with a single picture.

For this build I did a lot of research, looking at what places had already been designed once, and looking at other recent Lego sets to look at the way they were built. I also looked at the description of the common room in the books, trying to get a load of details in there. The paintings have been green screened.

The last (early) concept: James accidentally creates an explosion with the potion in his hands, consequences included.
