Secrets of the Golden Sphinx

Secrets of the Golden Sphinx is a modern tribute to LEGO Set 5978: Sphinx Secret Surprise, a set I had as a kid, and spent countless hours exploring and rebuilding. It stood out for its mysterious design and sense of adventure—the hidden chambers, the trap doors, and especially that giant sphinx guarding everything.

This version builds on that memory by scaling the sphinx up and adding detail using pieces and techniques that just didn’t exist back in the late ’90s. The centerpiece is a more elaborate sphinx with a pearl gold headpiece and earrings, giving it a bit more presence and personality. At its core is an open passageway, hinting at hidden secrets and unexplored depths inside.

The goal wasn’t just to remake the set—it was to capture the way it felt to me as a kid. That mix of mystery and imagination that made the Adventurers line so unforgettable.
