Mini Space Police

My brother and I loved the original Space Police theme when we were growing up. It was one of the few themes we collected almost all the sets for. We used to take apart the Mission Commander and Space Lock-up Isolation Base and create our own vehicles from the pieces.

This is a microscale version of both sets using modern elements and building techniques. Both sets feature the main functions of each of their larger cousins. The Mission Commander's cockpit opens up when you slide a lever (instead of turning a gear -- space did not permit). The lab can be detached from the back, and the rear door opened. The tiny three-piece Space Lock-ups can be removed from the lab and placed on the rover. The Space Lock-up Isolation Base includes a mechanism similar to the original, where turning a gear slides the launchpad out and raises the radar arm. Unfortunately the vehicles do not actually fit inside the sets!
