Tiny Trading Post

Inspired by my favorite set, the Imperial Trading Post. My parents gave me the original trading post set for my 5th birthday in 1995. I loved all the play features from this set and tried to recreate them on a micro scale. The grate covered pit for storing trade goods opens and closes, the cannons swivel, and the harbor dock can raise and lower to let the tiny trade ship through.

A week before this challenge launched and for the first time in 15 years, I dug out my old Lego and found all the pieces to my original Imperial Trading Post. Building it full scale and then recreating it in miniature and seeing them side-by-side was very fun.

I love how far Lego has come and all the new build techniques and small-scale possibilities with some of the newer bricks. Building this tiny trading post to have studs facing all directions and then smoothing them out with tile pieces was a real challenge. 30 years later and I'm still building with Lego. Here's to (at least) 30 more!
