Futuron Hovercraft Mk. 2

As a kid my first Lego sets were Classic Space. Space Digger, Surface Transport, Space Supply Station. Those Legos were some of my favorite toys, I added a couple more sets and I played with them all quite a bit. But it wasn't until the Futuron series was released a few years later that I was well and truly hooked. And the Hovercraft was the first Futuron set I got.

As this is my first ever entry into a Lego Ideas contest a modern twist on the Hovercraft was the obvious choice. I've gone with a sleeker, more rounded look but I tried to stay true to the original feel of the ship. I kept the same engines underneath as well as the detachable wing-pods. And while I've beefed it up a bit I've tried to keep close to the original proportions. I also made the cockpit fully enclose the pilot, as that was always something that I felt was needed in a spaceship.
