The Honey House

My first LEGO set, the Town House and Garden (#376 released in 1978) began my joy of town builds. I used it as an inspiration for this little beekeeper’s honey house. That set has always delighted me. The use of the hinges to display the house either open or closed was a novel and fun feature. I can remember thinking how cool the hinge pieces were! Also, the 1x6x3 arch was a new piece for me when I got the Town House. This set also gave me my first mini-figures and LEGO flowers!

My honey house uses the minifigure from series 21. Here she is hard at work in her bee yard. It’s Spring and time to check the hive; see if there are swarms to catch and prepare for the honey flow. Inside the honey house is a collection of different kinds of honey. The extractor is ready for harvesting honey later in the season.
