The Breezeway Café (Est. 1990)
The original Breezeway Café is among my favourite sets ever: the arched windows, the plant elements and especially the window stickers made it seem so sophisticated and much grander in my 10-year old mind than it might have objectively been. For this challenge I wanted to build this vision I had of it.
While the #6376 has even LESS that 250 pcs it was quite a challenge to achieve a level of elegance & luxury similar to that I'd perceived from THE BREEZEWAY CAFE as a kid at this low piece count.
I kept the general layout of the building with arches as the main structural element, I also stuck with white for the building's colour but changed the colour scheme to a more natural mediterranean pallette and chose to lose most of the arched windows but only keep them for the entry way as a clear reference as well as the iconic writing now on the sign. Palm trees and an exotic bird were a must of course!
I think it works & I'd buy it again :)
