A Journey to the Moon (Made of Cheese)

When I was young I had a bag of Lego but I never remember having an actual set. This bag of pieces included the usual space and police Minifigures and lots of blue, white and red pieces. I used to make all sorts of little space buggys and vehicles but I always wanted to make a colourful and happy scene for the Minifigures. I remember people being obsessed with robots and the "future", old space films and little green men on the Moon and children were told the Moon was made of cheese and actually wanted to believe it! This build has retro simplicity while being colourful, happy and imaginative, telling a story about a child's adventures to the moon made of cheese to shoot a vintage inspired movie. I chose to style the Minifigures in a more naive story like appearance instead of the classic Lego space air tank and helmets. I included a vintage white and black astronaut and a modern grey to contrast. And the rocket in the background is also a reference to the 1964 Lego "Space Rocket" set.
