Police Helicopter - #7031
Modernized version of the Lego City #7031 Police Helicopter from 2003. One of the most influential Lego sets to me is because of the unique pieces from the original model. Notable pieces are the large windscreen, turbine, and two turbo engine-looking bricks. These pieces jogged the imagination for many builds to come. The original model also had a special black and blue printed minifig torso. The torso is my most-used (loose arms, faded print) torso since it can act as a secret agent and ninja.
In this modern take, I wanted to keep the unique nose tip shape, upgrading the windscreen with modern pieces and adding a sleek flair to the main body. The iconic tail end was beefed up to add to the realism of the turbo engines on the main body.
As for functionality, all rotor blades spin, the movable camera on the side, and flip-up flush doors on either side of the main body of the helicopter. The cockpit can be flipped up for easy access, and inside is the string for easy extraction.
