Toa Konatu & Makuta

Konatu was once a well-respected toa of earth. He was not particularly powerful, but the other toa appreciated his creative problem solving. However, on one unfortunate day, Konatu happened upon a mysterious mask. He discovered that it granted him incredible strength and elemental power, but there was a problem. Whenever he wore it, he would hear a quiet whispering in his ear. Regardless, he decided to keep it.

Before long Konatu abandoned his old mask entirely in favor of this new one. The immense power he had while wearing it was just too tempting. This proved to be a grave mistake. The whispering voice became louder overtime, and soon Konatu couldn't ignore it any more. At the same time, he found it harder and harder to take the mask off. Shortly thereafter, he began obeying the whispering voice; fulfilling its demands with the hope that someday it may allow him to take the mask off again.

That's the story of how Toa Konatu became one of Makuta's most valued servants.
