Hippos, the Phoenician Pirate Ship
Imagine sailing through the waves of sea spray on a Phoenician pirate ship!
I built ship because when I think of a pirate I think of a longboat. I named it Hippos because in Latin Hippos means ‘water horse’ and the Phoenicians were big on horse heads on their ships,(Unlike the Vikings, they put sea monsters)I put it on a wave because I thought it would look cool and be a challenge. I put the dolphins in as a fun little extra. The hardest part of the set was the waves, since they had to go up and around the boat and lift it up as if it was propelling it foreword. I also put a horse sticker on the sail, (I made the sticker myself.) It was also very difficult making the ship in a curve like in the picture I used as a reference. I didn’t copy any lego sets because then it would be cheating, I did borrow part of the bottom of set 41073. The other hard part was that the Phoenicians put funky curves at the back of their ships. And I made the figure head a to kind of look like a horse head.
