Old Lady's Revenge
The old pirate at the tiller is a ghost. He had to walk that plank at the back of "Old Lady's Revenge" one time too many, and the last time he came up, there was no one left on board.
They had all gone, vanished off the ship. Or perhaps they were still there, in another dimension. Or perhaps it was he who was in the other dimension. In any case, the ship was his. Sadly, the parrot was still there, quite alive and just as annoying as before. As was the former captain's pet tarantula.
So now he sails the oceans blue, his translucent gray hair sparkling in the salty breeze, the parrot telling the same rude jokes over and over again, and the tarantula trying to climb up his arm. He hasn't seen a single ship from the crow's nest, and no cannon has replied to his volleys, but he sails on, because that is all he knows how to do.
