BRB: Tropical Time-Out
I liked the idea of a 'nature reserve' mentioned in the challenge description, but decided to make it a beach scene. I've always loved tropical settings and one of my favourite ever holidays was in the Caribbean, so it brings back pleasant memories!
The thinking behind the big BRB letters is that they would look kind of like the sort of orange inflatables you sometimes see at the beach. I wanted to make them rounded all over, without many square edges, which is always a challenge in LEGO, especially getting inverted curve slopes to connect.
For the final design, I made sure all pieces are connected, so it is actually buildable. It also only uses pieces in available colours, with the exception of one single piece - can you spot it? :-)
Part count: 1111
Nerd Notes: It might look like two 1x10 plates in Lavender for the beach towel (a piece not available in that colour), but in fact, it's four 1x4 bricks and two 1x2 bricks embedded into the beach!
