Desolate Melancholy
My Rolling Stones inspired Lego build is based on the ever-popular song "Paint it Black"
The Song's upbeat middle eastern flavored tune is somehow in harmony with the stark reality of its lyrics, as the song depicts a person dealing with the recent loss of their beloved partner.
The scene is of a large windowless building and an oversized door that has an other worldly quality. A metaphorical red door is beautifully contrast against the dominantly monochromatic color scheme. Claws, dinosaur bones, and bats have been incorporated as architectural design elements, while the guitar case is a nod to the Rolling Stones.
The entranced man gazes at the door, paint bucket and roller in hand, with
women passers by being a painful reminder of what he once had.
Grief and pain flood the man’s mind as color is drained from his world.
Numb, he seeks to wipe the last remaining hue from his life
"I look inside myself
And see my heart is black
I see my red door
I must have it painted black"
