Lady Jane

In my father’s youth, he and his friends formed a band that tore up the dance floor in and around their hometown in Norway. They played many of the hits of the era, including those of the Rolling Stones'. My father’s favourite Stones song has always been ‘Lady Jane’, so when this opportunity came around I knew I had to create something that would honour both the Rolling Stones and my father!

'My sweet Lady Jane
When I see you again
Your servant am I
And will humbly remain
Just heed this plea, my love
On bended knees my love
I pledge myself to Lady Jane'

Mick Jagger’s diction and delivery of the lyrics evoke the works of Geoffrey Chaucer, while the distinctive sound of Brian Jones' dulcimer, later joined by the harpsichord, completes the Elizabethan aura.

There are many theories about the meaning of the lyrics, but in this interpretation you will see sweet Marie play the dulcimer with Lady Anne on the harpsichord, while Mick Jagger pledges his troth to Lady Jane.
