Sky Pirates - Playing With R/C Airplanes
Sky Pirates (1980) is a family adventure film released in the UK that showed flying radio-control airplanes. These model planes are flown with the old-school Futaba RC Transmitters.
The highlight of this submission is a full scale model of a vintage Futaba RC Transmitter that has playable joysticks, sliders, and a switch that makes a clicking sound and could also light up the meter. Like the real one, the antenna is detachable too! Extra widgets can be built as well to “mod” the transmitter to your liking and add more playability. Two mini-scale Spitfire airplanes add to the nostalgia!
Other more popular movies in the 80s have also used various Futaba RC Transmitters, both on-screen and behind the scenes. A recent reboot have also featured the vintage Futaba RC Transmitter heavily modified and has since made it very much sought after by those wanting to create film-accurate replicas. Now wouldn't it be awesome if we can build it in LEGO?
