The King and the Mockingbird (1980)
It's the cartoon from my childhood, which we watched again and again on VHS with my brothers. Nostalgia accompanied the entire process of creating this little set.
The King and the Mockingbird ("Le Roi et l'Oiseau") is a cult French animated film that notably inspired Hayao Miyazaki and Brad Bird (The Iron Giant). Directed by Paul Grimault and with texts by the poet Jacques Prévert, the film was released in 1953 under the title "La Bergère et le Ramoneur", but was disavowed by its creators. It was reworked, and a new version was released in 1980.
This diorama represents a scene from the film, at the top of the castle, where the bird, nestled on the roof of the king's apartments, sings very badly a lullaby to its baby birds. I also made a replica of the famous robot, and a member of the royal police figurine.
I hope you like it, and I accept all reviews, good or bad. Thanks for reading and watching.
