VF-1J Valkyrie

The VF-1J Valkyrie is a mecha that appears in the 80's TV series "Robotech," piloted by the main character Rick Hunter. (In Japan, Robotech is known as the “Super Dimension Fortress Macross”, and VF-1J was piloted by Hikaru Ichijo.)

 

The VF-1J is one of the Veritech Fighter VF-1 series, and can transform from a fighter mode to a humanoid mode “Battroid” and an intermediate mode “Guardian”.

 

This model can be transformed into 3 forms with out replacement. It was quite a challenge for me to recreate the transformation mechanism and the design together.

 

The VF-1 Valkyrie was designed by animation director / mecha designer Shoji Kawamori. Mr. Kawamori is known to design mecha using lego bricks. I think that lego and the VF-1 are very compatible.

 

I believe that fans of the Robotech (Macross) series and all lego fans will enjoy the process of assembling the VF-1J, as well as the process of uncovering the transformation mechanism.
