Fame (Remember My Name)

The 1980s began with the release of the film “Fame”. Two years later, in 1982, the plot was brought to television with the series of the same name. Its international success marked the youth of all the children and adolescents who grew up in the 1980s.

This series recounted the struggle of some students at the New York performing arts school to find a place in the world of entertainment and achieve what they then called fame. The opening theme song “Remember my name” emphasized the meaning that fame had for them: it was a way for their name to be remembered and thus give them the opportunity to earn a living through their art.

Likewise, the entire culture of the 80s was reflected in this series with the music, dance numbers and fashionable clothing in those years (brightly colored spandex leggings, leg warmers, and leotards for women, and tight-fitting T-shirts , shorts, and sweatbands for men).
