Historical Family Cabin
Our family cabin is centuries old and has been with us for generations. Its simple amenities provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life with no electricity or running water. In this replica of our traditional Nordic “sel”, my family and I enjoy dinner to the light of a candle, play card games and listen to the sounds of nature as night falls, draping everything in darkness.
In this simple, rugged cabin in the middle of nature, my mind is brought back to how life used to be for our ancestors; here our grandmother churned butter while the cows mooed from the basement — what if there were still cows? What if there were Nisser making porridge just beneath our feet? What if there was still a goat eating flowers on the roof? I’m sure I just heard it bleat…!
Family means many things to me, but one of the things I’m most grateful for is how my parents have always encouraged my sister and I to let our imaginations bloom — I see this MOC as a tribute to this!
