Family Nostalgia
Our childhood memories are in some ways nested within our toys. By playing with them as AFOLs we are taken back to our past.
We see a futuristic bedroom in which siblings recreate and relive their happy family moments.
In his puberty, the son was playing video games with his dad and built, being a TFOL, one of his babyhood moments as a birthday surprise for his sister. Meanwhile, their mother was trying to get his son organize his bedroom.
Symbolism
Blue: abstract, adulthood, cold (colours), minimalistic, night time, nostalgia to the past, urbanscape
Yellow: cosy, concrete, daytime, nature view, puberty, quality time, warm(th) (colours)
Green: babyhood, Duplo, innocence
Red: love, parents' first date
Silver brick: reference to the artwork in the blue room
Reasons why
-tells a story
-the fun of building at different scales
-can be combined and (dis)played (with) in various ways
-the ability to go across different timelines
-represents how toys encapsulate our memories
With gratitude!
