Epic Road Trip
In 1967, the NASA sponsored Summer Conference on Lunar Exploration and Science issued findings that a Lunar Scientific Survey Module (i.e. rover) was critical to the scientific success of the Apollo program. Although Boeing won the first contract for a Lunar Roving Vehicle, no one thinks of Boeing when planning a road trip. Perhaps the Apollo astronauts would have preferred NASA selected another unpressurized vehicle available in 1967 for this arguably longest, most epic road trip ever.
