Base: On the Rocks
After my diorama, I wanted to expand the concept of the living space in a planet colony to a proper architectural model. I particularly wanted to find a way of using the new dome piece as a bubble canopy integrated into the structure, instead of the usual upright position that would have made the first floor too high. It was tricky to find the pieces to close the space on the sides, but I suceeded.
Then, I thought that a house in Mars or a similar planet would probably take advantage of existing rocks, both to save materials and to shield from cosmic rays. So I integrated the metal structure (in classic blue) into some of the ugly rock pieces (I know, but low piece count) to which some sparse vegetation clings. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the organic feeling of the building. The back is open to allow easy access for play, and the canopy fully opens to reveal the bedroom.
The rocks are reddish brown to give a Martian vibe, and the house features classic space colours. Enjoy!
