The Builder's Hand

When an artist creates a work of art, the artist is also, in a sense, created through the process of making that art. The artist shapes the work of art, and at the same time is shaped through the artistic process.

I chose to build this using the technique of Tensegrity to evoke the tension that is present in the creative process, as well as the balance that is finally achieved. This model has two bases so that it can be reversed.  Each hand holds a brick as it contributes to the formation of the other hand.
