Compositie Met LEGO 2

This is an apparently flat artwork which you might recognise is in the style of Piet Mondrian and it's named appropriately for one of his works, although it is not based on a specific painting but instead uses his principles and ideas.

The artwork consists of planes of white and primary colours separated by thin horizontal and vertical black lines which extend to the edge of the 'canvas'. One of the lines extends beyond in a nod to one of Piet's principles - that the artwork should not be perceived as limited to the canvas but extends (perhaps infinitely) in all directions.

This is built on a 48x48 stud baseplate so it's 15 inches (38cm) square plus the extended black line.  It is made of 579 pieces, mostly 2x2 and 1x2 tiles for the colour planes. I could have used larger tiles but wanted to give the built work some surface texture, as do Piet's original works if you view them up close.  I've also added some random 2x2 tiles with 1 stud because there is never a 'perfect' white.
