Victory Brickie Woogie
Inspired by the five classic Lego colours, this piece of art celebrates the rich history behind the colourful brick!
Lego's famous colour palette was based on the most frequently used colors of the Dutch art movement "De Stijl".
The most well known member of "De Stijl", Piet Mondrian, made cubism paintings existing merely from the primary colors (blue/yellow/red) and black & white.
Primary colours and black stripes flow through this geometrical abstract model. The base, which is tilted 45 degrees, consists of a classic cubist pattern.
Adhesive strips above the composition represent the later years of the cubistic movement, with more rich details and reduced use of the classic horizontal and vertical lines.
The eight square-ish studs represent a more modern twist, which combined with the strips represent the Lego brick and its colorful past!
This piece of art makes use of the standard Lego art frame for support. It measures over 56cm (22.3 inch) square and 3.8cm (1.5 inch) deep!
