Apollo vs Pan - The oldest musical challenge!
Myths tell
that King Midas, tired of his wealth, decides one day to spend some time away
from the court and takes refuge in the woods, where he knows the god Pan, half
man and half goat (for this reason he is considered the progenitor and the
protector of satyrs).
Pan often
played the bagpipe or the "syringe", a kind of flute, and his famous
panpipe, which takes its name from him.
Praised by
Midas, completely ignorant of music, Pan decides to challenge the god Apollo
himself.
The race is
thus organized: Apollo with his lyre against Pan and his instruments.
Apollo wins
easily, showing his superiority self-evidently, but Midas, from the height of
his ignorance, decides his friend Pan as the winner.
Apollo,
then angry and surprised by so much incompetence, as punishment makes King
Midas grow donkey ears.
The MOC,
which I made, resumes the end of the race, when Apollo, having won the match
against Pan, makes Midas's donkey ears pop.
