Working Accordion/Concertina
I made an accordion/concertina hybrid for this competition, with as much functionality as possible! This was a very enjoyable challenge which I spent many weeks working on. The pictures show:
1. Right end of the accordion with a functional keyboard, decorations and wrist strap.
2. Left end of the accordion with chromatic button board, vent for air to enter and music to exit, plaque with the maker's name, wrist strap, ledge to lean the wrist on and thumb grip.
3. Accordion with bellows at almost-full extension. The accordion should even be able to bend in the middle but I couldn't show this digitally.
4. Full compression, with the lock in place to hold it closed.
5, 6. The inner structure of the keyboard. Rubber bands should connect between the bricks with clips, so it works in any orientation.
7. The buttons, which push against a spring-loaded board.
8. Closeup of maker's mark, showing some "Lego math" I had to use a lot in this model.
Hope you enjoy it, as much as I did making it!
