The Legendary Sun Studio

Located in Memphis, TN, Sun Studio is known as the "Birthplace of Rock and Roll". In 1953, a young man named Elvis Presley stepped into the studio and told the office manager he'd like to record a song for his mother. He returned several times, trying to impress the studio owner, Sam Phillips. It was his breakout song "That's All Right" that launched his career with a new sound Sam had been waiting for. Other legends to record at Sun Studio include Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash, all of which recorded a session with Elvis, known as the Million Dollar Quartet. U2 later recorded there for their album "Rattle and Hum".

I grew up in Memphis, so this is a special place to me; but it's also one of the most iconic pieces of music history remaining. The studio is still operational and open to the public. If you ever have the chance to go or have been fortunate to visit, you'll know there's an undeniable vibe in this place that offers a very cool experience.
