Hurdy Gurdy
The Hurdy Gurdy is like an amalgamation of a violin, and organ, and bagpipes. Instead of a bow, the Hurdy Gurdy has a wheel that is covered with rosin on the outer edge. turning the crank causes this wheel to turn and the friction makes the strings vibrate. Most Hurdy Gurdy's use several strings for moth melody and also drone strings for harmony, similar to the drones of the Bagpipes. The pitch of the melody strings is changed using the buttons in the side much like the keys on and organ or piano. While this model wont produce the melodious droning sounds of the Hurdy Gurdy, you can turn the crank on the end and spin the wheel and press the keys and "change the pitch" of the strings. The included strings can be attached to the front of the model and pulled through the "keyboard" box to be wound onto the tuners at the back of the model. The Hurdy Gurdy can be displayed on the stand for display.
