New Order at the Haçienda
The Haçienda (FAC51) is a legendary club in Manchester, owned by Factory Records and New Order. It opened in 1982, with iconic interior design by Ben Kelly (recommended by Factory's graphic designer Peter Saville). After years of financial troubles, the club closed in 1997.
The club was a mecca for the acid house scene in the late 80s and early 90s, as well as being a key location for the Madchester movement around the same time. Plenty of legendary bands from the era played live there.
This LEGO scene tries to capture some of the Kelly's industrial interior design and what better band to feature than owners New Order: singer/guitarist Bernard 'Barney’ Sumner, bassist Peter 'Hooky' Hook, drummer Stephen Morris, keyboardist Gillian Gilbert.
Alongside Kelly's interior design is included a nod to Peter Saville's graphic design for Factory Records – a motif from the record sleeve of New Order's classic 'Blue Monday' is used as a minifigure display
